California Employment Projection
California’s unemployment, as of just five days ago, March 20, 2009, rose to a staggering 10.1 percent.
With the Employment Development (EDD) now opening its call centers from 10 am til 2PM on Saturdays, merely to be able to handle the growing influx of those who require unemployment compensation insurance, and assistance in application for it, what’s the jobless rate going to do next? With California’s state unemployment currently about two percent higher than the national average of 8.1 percent, having grown in just one year nearly four percent, what’s the next few months going to bring for the job seeker in California?

Is there anyone in California who is currently hiring and if so, who is it, and what can you do to better yourself so that you’ve got a chance of getting back on the roles of the employed or employable?
Granted the situation does look bleak at least for the next few months. The number of unemployed in California in February peaked out at about 1 million, 950 thousand people out of work. But in a state where nearly 17 million are working, how bad really is the crisis and what’s coming next.]
In California many of the top careers, where you may find employment will be in the IT industry, while still more will be network engineers, customer service representatives and service industry jobs.
The best bet currently for the job seeker is going to be service oriented positions.
The current listings for job openings in California include primarily skilled positions, but some may require little or no retraining, but rather will train their employees on the job. These positions of course will not be the most high paying positions for which you may apply.
The top jobs (for highest numbers available) in the state of California currently and through 2016 as projected by the Employment Development are as follows:
Retail Salespersons 26,160
